Aotea Sound Lab - Digital Audio studio and expressive vehicle of Denton Perry Musician & Composer
I developed Aotea Sound Lab in August 2007 to produce musical compositions in a digital format, drawing from a performance background gained during the 70s and early 80s.

During those years I expanded on my earlier musical experiences from playing cornet with brass bands when 11 years old, to a variety of instruments. These included trumpet, flute, tenor sax, keyboards and percussion played with a succession of bands spanning contemporary jazz, dance and cabaret, pub-rock, classical and new wave.

2007, and an introduction to Apple's GarageBand presented the opportunity to revisit the keyboard and begin producing music, after discarding ideas about guitars, soprano sax, flugelhorn, etc.

Now, June 2009, I am composing and recording with Logic Express, exploring the realms of music with lyrics and working with MySpace 'friends' and other artists to put down vocal tracks.

No-one is safe ... !

I am currently working on new material for my next album, Other Tales to Tell, and am talking to several MySpace friends for collaborative elements, including guitar segments and vocals.

FIRST RELEASE - "Damned if You Don't" is a cyber-punk rant featuring a vocal from the Dsider (Italy).

SECOND RELEASE - "La Mia Voce" is a bit of 'space opera' featuring soprano Julia Booth (N.Z.).

THIRD RELEASE - "It's All Gone" is a lament (dirge) and features a lead vocal from Justine Wilde (New York) , backup vocals from Wilfred Espin (Tauranga), and a guitar solo by Johnathan Devil (Alabama).
